With the renovation of the Veterans Memorial Convention Center and the strong ag economy, the 2012 Iowa Power Farming Show has grown to become the second largest indoor farm show in the United States. The show added 108 new exhibitors for 2012 and now has 505 exhibitors representing over 750 company brands and services.
The renovation of the Vets Memorial Convention Center which opened in January added nearly 40,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space. “This exhibit space was quickly booked. Even with this additional space, we still have a waiting list of companies wanting to get into the show. More companies are hearing about the size and quality of the show and want to be involved,” says Tom Junge, Show Director. The show was one of the first events to use the Veterans Auditorium when it was built in 1955. The exhibit floor was enormous at that time covering one acre.
“The size and quality of the show is also getting noticed by farmers. We know of farmers traveling over four hours to get to the show. Even with the bad weather last year, a farmer from Menominee, WI called to make sure the show was open,” says Junge. The National Farmers Organization is holding their annual convention in Des Moines this year so that they can partake in the Iowa Power Farming Show. The show set a new attendance record seven years in a row until last year due to a winter storm hitting on opening day. “We expect nearly 20,000 in attendance this year, says Junge.”
The show will utilize three levels of the new Vets Memorial Convention Center, the Hy-Vee Hall and 2 levels of the Wells Fargo Arena. The show has 1820 booths and encompasses 7.0 acres of display area.
The show is January 31 – February 2 and is sponsored by Farm Credit Services of America, Bayer CropScience, Ag Leader Technology, Stine Seed, Stewart-Peterson Group and Sukup. Mfg.
The Iowa Power Farming Show is owned and managed by the Iowa-Nebraska Equipment Dealers Association, which represents over 400 agricultural, outdoor power and industrial equipment dealers throughout Iowa and Nebraska.
