If you have been reading my column for any length of time now, you are probably aware of how I like to write about heroes. Sadly, heroes and inspirational stories are not usually headline news, so they tend to go unnoticed by the masses.
Take for instance Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. He came into office about one year ago with the State facing a staggering 3.6-billion-dollar budget deficit, and a large amount of unemployment. He promised he could balance the budget – and in one year, what has he done? The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, even though they opposed his nomination, just published an article on his accomplishments. Governor Walker, in just under one year in office, has:
- balanced the budget
- put a lid on property tax increases
- allowed the schools and municipalities more control over their budgets
- decreased the unemployment rate
He [Walker] accomplished this by putting through a law limiting collective bargaining rights for Unions, requiring them to contribute a little more for their pensions (5.8%) and health care(6.6%). Now the Union groups of the United State are spending millions in an attempt to push through a recall of Governor Walker.
Maybe it would be a good thing for the Union groups to push Walker out of his Wisconsin office. Perhaps we should put him in the Oval office, where he would be able to help the finances of entire country, instead of one state.
Imagine in America a balanced budget. Imagine unemployment decreasing by 2% in one year. The Keystone Pipeline would go through quickly (you know we have thousands of safe pipelines already going across America already, and one would be great for everyone). Imagine America on a roll in the right direction!
If I could personally give Governor Walker a message, it would be this: "Don't be discouraged – you are a hero for bucking the trend of people who don't have the guts to balance their budget. As I have said before, the economy is just waiting for some leadership in our country; leadership for fiscal responsibility; leadership in job creation; leadership for tax controls, which will cause our economy to explode and our stock market to roar higher…"
MY prediction? The stock market will reach a new high around February of 2013 – that is if judgment day doesn't come first. If it does, would you be ready?
Matthew 24:36… No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do no expect him.
To be prepared for judgment day you just need to read the Bible, pray to God to establish and strengthen faith in you, cherish His Word and gifts of love in your life. Mark 16:16… He that believeth and is baptized will be saved! That is, believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for his sins. Wait in confidence of the future!
